In 1956, Hemco’s Founder, Rich Bevis Sr. noticed worker’s using a single 2×4 board to walk from point A to B in order to access hatches at the tops of chemical trucks. This is what prompted him to provide workers with a safer alternative. From that moment on Hemco has been a leading manufacturer of world-class gangways, railcar loading racks, tanker truck loading racks, and other fall protection products and safe access solutions that provide optimal safety for your operators.

In 1956, Hemco’s Founder, Rich Bevis Sr. noticed workers walking across a single 2×4 board to access the hateches at the top of a truck. Immediately thinking to himself, “there has got to be a safer way for operators who are working at heights to move from point A to B.”
Once on top of the truck, they simply used balance while loading material into the truck hatch. He took note and immediately went to the drawing board. That marked the beginning of the safe access industry.
