The Recliner Whisperer
If there’s one thing Marty takes seriously, it’s comfort.
By day, he’s a valued member of our team—dependable, quick-witted, and always ready to share his wealth of knowledge. But if you ask him about his dream job, he won’t hesitate: Lazy Boy Recliner Quality Control Specialist.
His inspection method? Simple: 💤
If he falls asleep in the recliner, it passes to time.
Marty’s sense of humor and laid-back charm keep our team grounded and smiling—but he’s not just about naps and laughs. He’s also a brave soul when it comes to culinary adventures… or at least he was back in 7th grade.

During a class-wide blind tasting challenge, Marty sampled an array of “unique” foods, including baby food, beets, and—most memorably—octopus. The taste? Not Tolerable. The texture? Slimy and nasty. It’s safe to say octopus didn’t make it into Marty’s list of repeat snacks.
When he’s not dreaming of recliners or reminiscing about questionable seafood, Marty is often tuned into the History Channel, fueling his passion for the past. That love for learning has inspired his dream vacation: a trip to the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. He knows it’ll take at least three days to truly explore it all, but his first stop is already planned—the mineral exhibit, where science and natural history come to life.
And if Marty could have any superpower? He’d choose telepathy—not to snoop, but to better understand people’s intentions. “I’d like to know what others are thinking so I can tell if someone is good or bad,” he says. A superpower rooted in wisdom and intuition—very on-brand for Marty.
Speaking of wisdom, one of the most memorable pieces of advice Marty received came from a friend’s dad when he was a kid. It was a fishing tip—and a strange one at that
“You can drown a fish.”
As the story goes, if a fish dies in a spot, others of the same species get spooked and stay away from that area. Whether it’s fact or fishing folklore, it stuck with Marty—and makes for a great story every time.
Marty brings curiosity, humor, and a steady presence to everything he does. Whether he’s keeping us laughing, sharing offbeat life lessons, or just being the one you can count on, he reminds us that a great team is built on personality, heart, and a well-tested recliner.
Thanks for being you, Marty—we’re lucky to have you on the team!
