At Hemco Industries and BGRS, Inc. we are proud to highlight the dedication and work ethic of our outstanding team members. This month, we shine the spotlight on Juan, a standout employee who has been with us since October 2014. Over the years, Juan has consistently demonstrated initiative, reliability, and a commitment to excellence. His contributions to the company, coupled with his strong, quiet determination, have made him a respected and valued member of the team.
One of the many things that set Juan apart is his unwavering perseverance in the face of challenges. A perfect example of this is last summer; while working with a team he made a critical correction to a dust collector on top of a 40-foot-tall silo. The job presented its fair share of obstacles, but Juan’s strong work ethic and resourcefulness shone through. When the drill bits they had on hand became dull, Juan didn’t hesitate to come up with a solution.
Armed with only a small sharpening stone from a local hardware store, Juan carefully sharpened the bits, enabling the team to finish the job. This is just one of many instances where Juan’s ingenuity and determination were key to completing the task at hand. It’s no wonder his colleagues affectionately call him Dr. Juan!
Juan’s quiet demeanor should never be mistaken for lack of engagement—he’s simply someone who leads by example. Whether working independently or as part of a team, he takes on every challenge with a calm and focused approach. His initiative, intelligence, and trustworthiness have earned him the respect of everyone who has had the privilege to work alongside him.
A Glimpse into Juan’s World
If Juan could be any superhero, he’d be Superman for his ability to fly. As someone without a fear of heights, he would relish the opportunity to experience flight firsthand.
What’s your favorite meal?
When asked about his favorite meal, Juan made it clear that it’s all about eggs and beans. No matter how prepared, scrambled, over hard, boiled, baked, or fried—eggs are his go-to meal.
What’s your favorite movie?
Juan enjoys a good scare, particularly in the form of scary movies. We can easily picture a movie called Watch Out for the Quiet Ones, as Juan’s reserved nature might just be the perfect setup for a thrilling plot twist!
What do you like to do for fun in your free time?
While Juan doesn’t have much free time due to his responsibilities at home (he has several animals to care for!), he enjoys playing pool. In fact, he has a pool table at home—but it’s currently awaiting new felt. As Juan jokingly puts it, his cows, chickens, and goats could probably start their own pool league, and he doesn’t want them messing it up!
What’s your dream vacation spot?
Juan enjoys visiting family in Chicago, but his dream vacation is to the beach in Mazatlán, Mexico. He’s particularly excited about the idea of going parasailing—maybe it’s time for a company team-building event to make this dream a reality!
Juan’s contributions go beyond just his technical expertise. While quiet, his strength, problem-solving ability, and dedication make him an invaluable part of the BGRS and Hemco team. We look forward to many more years of success with him and can’t wait to see where his skills and determination take him next!
