Air-Over-Hydraulic Operated XHA Gangways
The XHA Air Operated Hemco gangway models are selected where automation is desired and air of sufficient pressure is available.
- Air pressure is applied on hydraulic fluid in Hemco hydraulic reservoir to activate cylinders
- Fully automatic operation with compressed air of 160-180 PSIG with assisted fold-back counterbalance
- Hydraulic valves are closed when optimum positions are reached, and movement is locked
- Gangway folds down smoothly, and main platform lowers by gravity
- Extension platform is spring loaded for easy, automatic retraction
- Gangway will reach its maximum horizontal and then automatically folds back until reaching its full upright position
Folding Down
Slightly pull back on top of gangway and release automatic latching device. Push open lever to lift cylinder valve located at bottom of reservoir. Gangway will fold down to the horizontal. Positive stops hold gangway at the horizontal.
Folding Back
With the extendible platform retracted and column lock mechanism unlocked, pressurize reservoir with the air valve. Gangway will then level up until the fold rod nut engages the folding angle at which time the folding rod will fold the gangway back and the automatic securing latch will engage. If sufficient air pressure is not available at any time, operator may pull on handle of folding chain assembly to assist in bringing the gangway to the upright position.
Leveling Up or Down
After the gangway folds down, it is stopped at the horizontal and it will continue to level down. When the desired level is reached, close vertical valve and gangway will be held in position. If adjusting upward is needed, pressurize the reservoir by opening the air valve located at the top of the reservoir. Open the lift cylinder valve and the lift cylinder will level the gangway up. Close lift cylinder valve when the desired level is reached.
Pivoting
With the vertical column unlocked, gangway will pivot by hand to the desired angle by pulling or pushing on either of the rear handrail posts. Push down on column lock mechanism to hold pivot position in place.
Extending
After the correct level height and angle have been reached, turn the air valve lever to pressurize the reservoir, then open extension valve to pressurize cylinder to extend. To retract extension platform, turn air valve lever to close and release pressure in reservoir, then open extension valve. The extension spring will retract the extendable platform.
